St. Catherine & St. Ignatius are dedicated to serving all parishioners. As a Catholic community, we strive to demonstrate the Holy Spirit working through us in worship, witness and ministry. Through education of our children, youth and adults, we make every effort to enrich our faith and strengthen our love of God. Even though we are a small parish, we endeavor to share our blessings with those in need.
Religious Education For Children: We are committed to working with you in raising your children in the Catholic faith. When you brought your child for baptism, you promised to raise them in the church. You are still their primary educator. They look to you for example. Attending Mass, Holy Days of Obligation and Reconciliation are tremendous ways to teach your children the love of God and love for others.
For our children who do not receive faith formation at a Catholic school, we are affilliated with the St. John Paul II regional faith formation program. This program for children in grades kindergarten through 8th grade meets weekly on Sundays at the Archbishop Neale Regional School in LaPlata, Md. from 10:15am until 11:45am during September through May.
First Communion: Children who are in second grade will receive their First Communion preparation either at Archbishop Neale School or through the St. John Paul II Regional Faith Formation program.
Confirmation: Children in 7th grade and 8th grade participate in a confirmation preparation program that is a collaboration between Sacred Heart, St. Catherine of Alexandria, and St. Ignatius of Hilltop parishes. These classes meet one Wednesday evening per month in the Friendship Room at Sacred Heart parish in LaPlata. Please note that the sacrament of Confirmation is conferred for the children of St. Catherine and St. Ignatius Hilltop parishes at a Confirmation Mass at St. Catherine Church.
Adult Faith Formation: Adult faith formation is offered on Saturday mornings from 9:00am-10:15am. For 2019-2020 we are journeying through the Great Adventure Bible Study. Please check the parish calendar for exact dates.
Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults: For those adults who would like to become Catholic, whether or not they have been baptized. We have weekly meetings, with reception into the church normally at the Easter Vigil. For more details please contact the parish office at 301-934-9630.
